Shahar Peer's miserable run of form continued as she crashed out of the US Open against a qualifier at Flushing Meadows.

The Israeli was beaten in straight sets by Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain - her sixth consecutive exit at the first round stage.

Crucially, Arruabarrena-Vecino broke Peer's serve to take the first 6-4 in 37 minutes.

Indeed service was an important part of the contest with Peer making eight double faults as well as eight unforced errors.
