Shahar Peer's prepararations for next week's US Open suffered a blow as she sank to an embarrassing defeat at the Texas Open.

Peer, who is ranked 24 in the world, was blown away by Sweden's Johanna Larsson 6-2 6-4.

Larsson, who sits 40 places below Peer in the rankings, was just the latest player to inflict more pain on the Israeli.

Having defeated Anastasiya Yakimova (84) of Belarus in the opening round, Peer looked out of sorts ahead of next week's tournament in New York.
