Pearl Dental CC are the Israel Night League champions for the second consecutive after beating Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys in the best of three final.
In the first final, PDCC batted first and scored 85 before restricting PJGOB to 62. In a match of high drama and tension, PJGOB were cruising with 40 on the board after only four overs, but some tight bowling, excellent fielding and nervous batting enabled PDCC to take a 1-0 league in the final.
The second final followed a similar pattern with PDCC batting first and scoring 90, before restricting PJGOB to 69, to take the title.
Winning captain David Wiseman said: "After a few early wobbles, we peaked at the right time. Full credit to Pommeranz. They played well and are always a worthy rival. Going back-to-back is beyond our wildest dreams.
"I'm really proud of my team and the way they came together. It was a true team effort with everyone making key contributions."
Losing captain Davi Pushett said: "Yet again we showed why we have been in every final since the inception of the night cricket league.
"As was our hallmark throughout the season, Pommeranz kept Pearl to modest totals in each of the final games, through a combination of tight fielding and straight bowling, exemplified by Danny Verbov's pace and diving to save every run, and PJ Sahor's clever field placement.
"Unfortunately we were unable to capitalise on our good batting starts, such as a seemingly unbeatable partnership of 40 from Daniel Lourie and Benji Pushett, in the the chase for 86 runs in the first final.
"Pearl's use of their young quickies for the last overs of each of the final games proved a winning move in slowing our run chase. Full credit to the winners.
"Pomeranz Juice Good Old Boys will be spending the off-season in the nets. Thanks to Herschel Gutman and Yefet Nagavkar for organising a great season. We are looking forward to season 2012-2013 and playing against a growing number of teams that join every year!"
In the Plate league, KAT Israemploy scored a resounding win over last placed Bet Shemesh Royals. Batting first, KAT amassed 104 and restricted BSR to 38.
This week's game sees KAT take on Modi'in EasyIsrael. There is much at stake in this game as the winner will have a very good chance of finishing fourth and meeting third-placed Modi'in Young Lions in the bronze medal final.
