Jerusalem went into the game as league leaders, having won three of their four games and scoring 15 goals in their last two matches.
Aviv City, who finished one spot above bottom last season, have improved their squad and were third in the table
City started off the stronger, dominating possession with nice attacking football, orchestrated by their new Nigerian partnership of Martin Udeani and Remi Ozoagu.
This culminated in a lovely left-footed strike by Adam Jaffe on nine minutes to give the home side an early lead.
A quickfire double by Ozoagu gave City a three-goal lead befor Jerusalem’s Lolu Hibbert pulled one back ten minutes before the break.
The next goal was going to be important and it was Jerusalem who scored it just five minutes into the second half when Jose Garcia scored a header from a corner.
But despite a late onslaught, Jerusalem were unable to muster an equaliser as the home side held out to take the points.
Jaffa 1 Ra'anana FC 4
Ra'anana reclaimed their position at top of the table after avenging last season’s cup final defeat by Jaffa.
The visitors found their passing game immediately and managed to maintain possession of the ball through most of the first 20 minutes of play.
Ra'anana forced some fine saves from the Jaffa keeper, Simon Davies, and were denied a penalty after Jaffa's Sam Rudnik handled a ball on the goalline.
Eventually Raanana midfielder Omri's shot from 20 yards out found the back of the net, putting Ra'anana in a deserved lead.
Jaffa managed to take some control of the game towards the end of the half, reaching the Ra'anana goal a handful of times.
Ra'anana's man of the match and debut goal keeper Simone Minzter kept Jaffa out by pulling off a number of fine saves when called into action.
The second half began with Ra'anana looking to create a comfortable lead and Jaffa looking to get back on level terms.
In the 60th minute, Aviad Ben Meir found Ra'anana's elusive second goal with a fine piece of play down the left wing.
The pressure on Jaffa's goal continued and paid off when Ariel Kaikov slotted Ra'anana's third and Aviad Ben Meir doubled his tally to make the score 4-0.
With five minutes remaining on the clock Jaffa forward Rannie Madmon, scored their consolation goal to set the final score.
Co manager Avi Wiesenberg said "We showed composure and held tight after absorbing pressure both after the first and second goals.
"We are pleased that we are back on track after last games defeat and there is a real belief in the side that we can achieve things this season.
"If we can continue to gel and play our passing game we have a real chance despite still having a long way to go.
"We will take each game as it comes as there are no easy games in this league."
