Gal Rowieksi, among the new recruits, opened the scoring before Laurence Newman struck late on for the hosts.
Levy said: "We have to be content with the start that we have made.
"There have been quite a few new players and it takes some time to get everyone up to speed. It has been a fragmented start for us.
"But I feel we will improve as the season goes on."
South Manchester won 4-1 in the corresponding fixture and Levy was delighted to bounce back.
He added: "We had to show resilience. It looked like we had learned our lessons."
