Josh Newman stunned the field to take bronze at the London Youth Games.

The youngest competitor in a field of 112 competitors, Newman, 11, successfully completed two impressive routines. He was leading after the first round before eventually finishing third behind the respective winners and runner-up from last year. Both participants were aged 16 with their superior power proving decisive.

Proud father Stuart Newman said: "Josh received the biggest cheer on the day as everyone realised how young he is and he was interviewed for TV for his view on the competition and his success on the regional news."

Following his success, Newman was presented with the Jack Petchey award for outstanding achievement. He has also been selected to train with Jack Kelly, British Olympic trampoline coach on Sunday, in Ipswich which is a breeding ground for stars of the future.
