Never forget the Rachmanus spirit

VIt never ceases to amaze what happens to some of the world’s finest sportsmen when they cross the thin white line. And even though the prizes on offer are considerably smaller in the amateur game, unsavoury events take place regularly. All in the name of victory and pride.

Some come over all possessed, making irrational decisions and doing things they later regret. Indeed I’ve played in the same teams as some of these characters whose actions have, at times, let their teammates down.

Respect is earned by being gracious in victory and in defeat. We mustn’t forget the Rachmanus spirit is the raison d’être for Maccabi sport.

* Having played in goal behind Michael Sacks, it’s no surprise that Tony Gold has taken the Team Maccabi GB defender to Takeley FC.
