Nicky Harris won the National Scratch Open at Woodhall Spa.
The elite of Jewish golf gathered in Lincolnshire to contest the tournament complemented by the age-restricted Masters tournament.
Both competitions were staged on the world renowned Hotchkins Course and while it was presented in beautiful condition, the test proved severe.
The championships consisted of two medal rounds played off scratch with net prizes also being awarded.
The first round saw Nicky Harris (74) of Whitefield establish a two-shot lead over Marc Cohen of Hartsbourne.
Johnny Lawrence of Moor Allerton (74) returned the best score of the second round, but this was not enough to overhaul
Harris who produced a solid round of 75 to win the Donald Forster trophy with an aggregate score of 149. Cohen placed second on 152.
Martin Lerner of Dyrham Park dominated the Masters event. He led throughout the competition with rounds of 81 and 82. Trevor Steele of Dyrham Park collected the runners-up prize in the net competition.
The tournament was the last of the season under the auspices of the Association of Golf Clubs and Societies, and attracted a field of 40 golfers entering individually rather than only through affiliated clubs.
The Association feels that this is an important step in their efforts to embrace all Jewish golfers regardless of whether they are members of a Jewish golfing organisation. The event returns to Woodhall Spa next September.
