Manchester Maccabi have appointed David Nadler as first team boss as part of a new structure that will see the club looking to run 20 teams from Under sevens through to veterans.
Nadler will head the side that plays in the Eccles Sunday League Premier Division, one of the top leagues in the Greater Manchester area.
The team finished sixth last year but after a year of rebuilding, they are hoping to emulate the feat of the previous year when the team were runners-up.
Nadler led Great Britain Under 18s to silver at the Maccabiah Games and will be joined by Jack Nesbit who has also had medal success in a managerial capacity at Maccabiah level.
The pair will be complemented by ex-Manchester United and Portsmouth star Scott McGarvey.
Former 3rd XI boss Mike Shonn will run Maccabi’s 2nd team. He will be assisted by Mike Freedman. The 3rd team shows another new face to Manchester Maccabi management in the form of Adrian Grant, who has been an avid follower of the club for many years. He will be supported by the highly experienced Martin Simons.
Martin Franks, Ray Tamman and Steve Lee, all of whom have been involved in management of the teams in the MJSL for the past few years, spearhead the 4th team. Maccabi are also looking to put out a 5th team, details of which are soon to be finalised.
Howard Gruber, chairman of the senior section, said: “The new management teams have brought a wave of energy and anticipation. We are looking forward to the new season and I just can’t wait to get pre-season training under way.”
The junior section plans to field teams at every level of 11-a-side football from Under 11 to Under 16 in the Tameside Sunday League. Management is being finalised although stalwarts including Irving Modlin, Elliot Basso, Ric Hamburger and Lawrence Benjamin have all been re-engaged. The Mini Football section also boasts teams at every age group and level.
