Sunday was perhaps a marker in the sand for the league leaders as they easily put to the sword Heaton Park Rovers, recently the MJSL form team.

A first half saw Maccabi Manchester 2nd totally in control with several Heaton Park Rovers goalline clearances plus multiple chances from corners, an own goal opener and barring one real chance for HPR, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Indeed the second period turned out to be a rout with a final score of 7-1. Old timers Nick Yardley and Rick Buxton clearly are influencing how the team plays with a calming and assured impact. Jonathan Franks scored the HPR consolation whilst the other Maccabi goals were hat-tricks apiece for Adam Herman and Jack Myers. David Seligman was cautioned in a game expertly refereed by Sam Bernstein.

Perhaps the surprising result of the day saw second placed Maccabi Manchester 3rd slip up and fail against a strengthened Flixton Reserves. It must be said that the youngsters played the better football, created more chances and should have got more out of the game.
