Tony Milch insists age is no barrier after registering a points victory over Teodor Stefanov in his fifth pro bout.
Milch, 33, dictated a largely scrappy four-round encounter against the Bulgarian in a bout at a boxing dinner event at the Park Lane Hotel.
He continued his charge up the light middleweight ladder on his return to the ring following a seven-month injury layoff with a hand injury.
Milch said: “It was not a great fight, but he was an awkward opponent who was holding on to me a lot. The main thing is that I came through. It’s another win.
“If all goes to plan, I hope to challenge for a title next year. This is a good time to test myself and see how far I can go."
Milch took up the sport aged 14 and had “a really good amateur grounding” at Finchley Boxing Club. Following a spell in Canada, he is now living the life of a pro boxer, as well as some additional personal training work.
He said: “I had a break at 25 but now feel really fresh and ready to push on. I’m really serious about my boxing and don’t see it as a one or two-year thing. “I’m lucky to be doing something I love.
“There are plenty of top fighters still winning titles well into their 30’s, including Bernard Hopkins, Carl Froch, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, so I don’t see age as an issue.
“When I go into the ring I’m totally focused and am always looking for the knockout.” Milch is next in action at the Camden Centre in King’s Cross on November 28.
