AC Whetstone produced one of the upsets of the round in the Cyril Anekstein Cup, former cup winners Faithfold were given a scare by second division Jewdinese, while James Gershfield scored five in a crushing win for Harmen. Danny Caro looks back on Matchday 8 of the MGBSFL.

1. ELLIOTT BLOOM (AC Mill Hill) - Richard Winton ended an unbelievable 35-yardrun, which started in his own half picked up the ball in his own half, before sending a terrific cross with the outside of his foot straight into Elliott Bloom to score a crucial goal
2. DAVID JOSEPH COHEN (FC Team A) - shot first-time across his body from outside the area into the bottom corner, keeper had no chance!
3. ALON PINHAS (AC Whetstone) - brilliant team play involved quick interpassing between Alon Pinhas and Ethan Davis before Alon curled his finish round the keeper
4. SIMON MOSES Los Blancos) - superb 15-minute strike saw him cut in from the right before finding the top corner past Ben Cherkas
5. JAKE GILBERT (NL Raiders B) - GOAL 3 - yet another goal of the season contender and arguably better than his outrageous bicycle kick in Raiders' previous game. Adam Posner drilled his corner to the far edge of the D where Gilbert met the ball full on the volley to send it crashing home courtesy of the underside of the bar

Former cup winners were given a scare by second division Jewdinese at the Hive, but in the end experience told as the former winners progressed.
'Nese took a shock lead through Luke Lewis before the Superhoops hit back in style with strikes from Benjy Dymant and Alex Kaye sealing the tie.
Relieved Faithfold boss Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: "It was a good win although more goals would have been more satisfying. Jewdinese battled for 90 minutes and should be proud and put in alot of effort.
'Nese chairman Jake Erlich told JC Sport: "We fought for 90 minutes. Not only for the results but for eachother. A great team effort."

RICKY ENGLEMAN fired a hat-trick for the second week in a row as league overpowered old foes FC Team B.
Further strikes from David Dinkin (2) and Josh Green added the gloss for Rob Richman's men in a game they fell behind in after Lorian Madanes had given Team a shock lead.
NLR boss Rob Richman told JC Sport; "We won the game and we won the game convincingly but we know that our performances will need to be a little stronger over the coming weeks against better opposition.
Team manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "We lost to the better Team - Raiders are a real force and are even stronger than what they were. I will be shocked if they do not win anything this year"

Two goals from Rob Cohen and one apiece from Alon Pinhas and Aaron Benjamin completed a memorable morning for the Whetstone wonder kids at the expense of Division One high-flyers Bilbaum.
Ben Bell, Sam Roth and Julius Judah were on the mark for Bilbaum.

Yossi Abrahams grabbed a consolation for Rovers.
Interim Brady boss Elliot Dagul told JC Sport: "Obviously we are delighted to be in the next round of the cup, but we never really got going."
Rovers boss Jeremy Brown told JC Sport: "The scoreline didn't reflect the game today, and I think Brady would agree. We never gave up and I'm really proud of my team today for showing that we can mix it with the big boys."

First-half strikes from Josh Kalinsky, Lee Cutler and Jason Lindsay helped Brixton win a five-goal thriller against new boys Sosobad.
Andy Levy and James Law were the marksmen for Sosobad.
Brixton boss Paul Shamplina told JC Sport: "We played really well in the first half and for part of the second, until tiredness set in in midfield and we could not hold the ball up. In the end we're happy to get through and we were pleased to hear the final whistle."
Sosobad boss Dan Shafron told JC Sport: "My team were unlucky today. We conceded three sloppy goals in the first half, having been in control for the majority. We reshuffled at half time and I asked my players for a committed 45 minutes and that's what they gave. We showed spirit, passion and desire to get back in to the game and were very unfortunate to not go on and win. Well done to Brixton who I wish the best of luck to in the next round."

David Joseph Cohen, David James Cohen and Yoav Lebens were the marksmen as Team A booked their place in the next round at the expense of SPEC FC.
Team's Mike Myers told JC Sport: "It was a professional and clinical display from FC Team, seeing off their opposition in style. We were in control for most of the game and our possession paid dividends when the goals started flowing.
"Some of the passing and crossing on display was simply delightful, Bobby Abrams and David James Cohen in particular showing off the talents that Team has.
"The direct running and attrition of the strike-force and Yoav and Joel in the midfield, complimented the stylish passing and the great goals capped off a good performance. The defence was superb today mopping up everything SPEC had to offer, and keeper Myers produced another good performance. Manager Ben Gilbey has already tipped him as a potential player of the season."

A fab five-goal salvo from Team Maccabi GB striker JAMES GERSHFIELD guided Premier Division Harmen to a crushing 8-0 win, as predicted, against Division Three strugglers Fortune.
Gersh filled his boots with a first-half hat-trick, before adding two more in the second 45. Further strikes from Joey Lazare, Bradley Sharp and Ben Weinberg completed the rout.
Harmen joint-manager Joel Alterman told JC Sport: "It was a game that we dominated from start to finish, but credit to Fortune, they never stopped grafting and we wish them luck for the rest of the season."
Fortune boss Jonathan Cohen said: "We had a good spirit."

Adam Ellis was Shacharit's match-winner as Hendon's poor run of form continued.
Hendon struggled to get anything going in the first half, and were lucky to go in only one down at the break. Despite improving slightly in the second half, Hendon could have no arguments about the result.
A very frustrated Adam Glekin told JC Sport: "I hate to be negative, but today was bloody awful. Having got off to so many poor starts this year, I threatened to haul anyone off after 10 minutes if I felt they weren't putting in a shift - unfortunately, I could have taken off over half the team.
"We looked like we could play until next Rosh Hashanah and still not score. Just a poor day all round, and they're becoming worryingly frequent. We play the league leaders next week, and I'm expecting a big response."

A CAMERON MOST treble inspired a 10-man Lions team to victory against Division Three leaders King Crown.
Dan Green put Lions ahead from the penalty spot, but they were reduced to 10 men after Joel Reuben handled a goal-bound effort. King Crown missed the resultant penalty but drew level through Ben Garfield. Further strikes from James Gold, Ben Lampert and an own goal helped Lions progress.
Lions manager Jamie Kyte told JC Sport: "Playing with 10 men for most of the game was a challenge, but the team responded brilliantly and I’m very proud."
King Crown boss Jacob Kadoch told JC Sport: "I firmly believe that we'd have won this game with our first team."

The red-hot DAVE WOOLMAN added four more goals to his tally as Oakwood mauled Lions Green at Rowley Lane.
Carl Peters, Lee Warner and Simon Davies completed the rout.
Oaks joint-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport: "As the scoreline suggests, we were very comfortable against Lions. We totally dominated from start to finish and only some sloppy passing stopped us from really getting going and hitting a big score.
"Dave Woolman's finishing was exemplary and he continues to look in imperious form. It was good as well for Si Davies and Lee Warner to score their first goals for the club.
"Overall it was nice to play on the top pitch at Rowley Lane, and good for some players to get minutes, but we're sure to get a tougher test in the next round."

Another hat-trick from ADAM STOLERMAN saw FC Team C move to within three points of top spot after winning a seven-goal thriller against a gritty L'Equipe. Aron Barnes also registered.
L'Equipe's goals came through Jon Kay, JJ Marrache and Rob Simons.
Team player-manager David Gordon told JC Sport: "We were missing six key players yesterday so I was happy to come away with three points against a decent L’Equipe side."
L'Equipe joint-manager Josh Lewis told JC Sport: "I'm proud of the performance and in the end feel we deserved a point at least, but we'll take the positives and carry on the form into the Oakwood game next week."

KS boss James Lewis told JC Sport: "I'm very pleased with how we performed and felt we could have won it at the end, with Brandon Pieters and Russell Goldstein both striking the woodwork."
Boca boss Gabriel John told JC Sport: "The point was bitter sweet - probably on the balance the right result. Both teams had some clear cut chances and hit the woodwork. They played well and we're still a little goal-shy. But it's all a work in progress with something of a grudge match this Sunday at Aycliffe Road."
