MGBSFL teams are up for the cup this weekend, with the Anekstein tie between Norstar London Raiders A and old foes FC Team A and Faithfold A and Jewdinese among the pick of the bunch, while holders Hendon A take on Redbridge B. Danny Caro looks ahead to all the action.

YOUR WEEKEND PREVIEW STARTS HERE:
CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND TWO
NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A vs FC TEAM B
Ding-dong. That one way to describe Sunday’s crunch clash as MGBSFL table-toppers NLR host Division Two pace-setters FC Team B.
Rob Richman’s troops have made a barnstorming start in all competitions, with Ricky Engleman steering them to an impressive win in the Challenge Cup last weekend.
And with some big guns returning, Richman will order his men to go for the jugular against opponents they know well.
Ahead of the game, Richman told JC Sport: “On Sunday we face an FC Team side we know a lot about having played them a number of times over the last four years.
“I am not sure the reasoning behind the move to drop down two divisions, but it is apparent even at this early stage of the season that their squad is way too good for the second division. Having held their own in the Premiership for a number of years, this isn’t really any surprise.
“Knowing Mitch as I do he will be relishing this game - he likes nothing more than the role of the underdog and for us this is very much a tie that we will need to take very seriously as Mitch and FC Team will be hell bent on causing an upset.
““Our form, like FC Team’s, has been great so far and we will be really keen on continuing the winning run this coming Sunday.”
Team warmed up for the tie with a convincing 3-0 win over NLR’s B team. Gentle giant Richard Salmon, Shuey Mirwis and talisman Lorian Madanes eased them home.
Given the history between the sides, Young won’t have to say much to his players before kick-off. He’ll probably just tell them to go out and enjoy themselves. Yeah, right!
"There is no tougher game in Jewish football at the moment than Raiders A away, but what an opportunity to test ourselves.
“All the pressure is on Raiders, it will be embarrassing for them to go out in round two of the cup to lower league opposition. Furthermore, there seemed to be this perceived rivalry between the clubs which all stems from Raiders side so going out to an FC Team side is simply unimaginable for their point of view. We just see this as another game of football.
“Having lost in the final last year, they will be doing all they can to reach it this year so we will hoping to take advantage of the pressure they are under.
“We know Raiders are brilliant in midfield and going forward, but they concede a lot of goals so are hoping we can nick this one.
“The pressure is fully off my players but this does not mean we do not want to win. It should be a good game and having won on astro last week, we are ready and full of confidence. Bring it on!”
Neither side has put a foot wrong this season, but it’s hard to look past NLR given the quality they have from back to front, and the benefit of home advantage.
JC team news: For first time this season, Raiders will have a full squad to pick from. David Dinkin and JJ Spiro are both are available having missed last week’s Sunday cup win. Matt Stock should return for his first game of the season and Jordan Marks is back from university.

AC WHETSTONE vs ATHLETIC BILBAUM
Whetstone fans hope that Dan Cohen carries his stunning form of last week into Sunday’s meeting at home to the Baums.
Cohen was in a league of his own against Mill Hill, bagging a brace including one top-notch effort.
Managers Clive Nathan and Anthony Cohen were delighted by the spirit and character shown by their young players for who will be keen to impress against higher division opposition.
The Baums were stunned by SPEC FC last Sunday, though player-manager Julius Judah maintained his excellent form in front of goal, while Baums fans are still talking about Jacob Brunner’s stunning strike.
Midfield will be the key area for me on Sunday and I can see Bilbaum edging it in terms of physicality and goals. But it’d be foolish to write Whetstone off all together.
Venue – Hertswood, Ref – Neil Cooper
JC star man: Eli Gottlieb (Bilbaum)
DC Prediction: Whetstone 2 Bilbaum 3

BRADY MACCABI vs LONDON ROVERS
Playing for Brady Maccabi is a huge honour, and interim boss Elliot Dagul will remind his troops of that ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Division Three promotion hopefuls London Rovers at the Lane.
The Brady bunch were left kicking themselves after allowing a 2-0 lead to slip against Camden last week. Reiss Mogilner certainly didn’t deserve to be on the losing side, but there’s a reason why Rovers are 20-1 to win in normal time.
Ahead of the tie, Dagul jnr told JC Sport: “I want a reaction from the boys on Sunday. Obviously the result was disappointing last, but there were many positives to take from that game, especially our first-half performance.
“If we perform to the levels we are capable of, I'm sure we'll get the result our fans deserve.
“Josh said at the beginning of the season a cup run was on our agenda so we will be taking Sunday seriously.
“Brady's a huge club with huge expectations, so I'll make sure the players put in a proper performance, one the fans deserve, particularly after a trophyless season last year.”
Rovers have bounced back admirably from their bashing against Sosobad, with eight goals flying in during their last two games.
Chairman Viv Emanuel could not contain his excitement. "This is a whole new experience for a team I am involved in - a second round of a cup," he told JC Sport. "This will be a good challenge for us as a new club.
"We have had some great results this season and I just think we may be able to sneak this one."
No-one expects them to come away from the Lane with anything more than a hefty defeat, but it’s not in Jeremy Brown’s style to turn up and park the bus.
The Rovers gaffer told JC Sport: "I saw a different side to us last Sunday. Being 2-0 up and cruising for 70 minutes, we then simply gifted them two goals to level it up was a shock. But we showed a lot of character to go on and win the game so it's good to see that we have it in us. It was the first time this season we really had to dig deep to get the result.
"This week will be very difficult. Brady are a top side and we simply can't afford to make any mistakes if we want to try and win this game. Mistakes get punished more at a higher level so we have to be fully focused and make sure we don't suffer a heavy defeat.
"I think if we play at our best, we might just be able to cause an upset. It's a chance for us to see just where we might be as a football club. We played against a couple of Division One standard teams in pre-season and matched them all the way, so we definitely feel we have a chance. All we can do really is give it our all and see where that takes us. It's a cup game so who knows."
Brown has great confidence his players will rise to the occasion and give Brady a proper match, but don’t expect any miracles here.
JC team news: Josh Newman and Ben Hildebrand are back for Brady. Apart from that, the squad will be similar to the one that faced Camden, with James Joseph still missing. Dagul hopes he will return "after the international break".
Left-back extraordinaire Aron Luftig comes into the Rovers squad from his Yom Tov trip to Israel.
Venue – Rowley Lane, Ref – Rob Caplin
JC star man: Ben Hildebrand (Brady)
DC Prediction: Brady 5 Rovers 1

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs REAL SOSOBAD
The Sosobad boys can smell an upset in the making ahead of the trip to Clowes where they take on Brixton.
With Andy Levy bang in form, manager Dan Shafron believes his troops have what it takes to register one of the shocks of the round.
Three consecutive shut-outs tells me Sosobad are well-drilled and no-nonsense defending will be the order of the day against a Brixton team featuring the evergreen Saul Conway, Ben Nassim and Stefan Benfredj.
Shafron told JC Sport: “We are looking forward to making our debut in the Anekstein Cup. It’s nice to have a different competition to focus on.
“We have had some very positive results recently, however we know we are up against a tough Brixton team and all league form is discarded from a cup competition.
“They have struggled to get many points on the board throughout 2014 and their last victory came last December, but we cannot read in to this at all. That was a different team to what they are now, and with Paul Shamplina, they are under a good, experienced management in a transitional stage.
“Last Sunday against Lions, I was happy with the win but I was not happy with our second-half performance. I maintain that there are no walkovers in the whole of the MGBFSL and we have to work hard for a victory no matter who we play.
“This week I will pick a squad who I think will battle for the entire game and lead us in to the next round of the competition.”
Shamplina was delighted with the high standards his team maintain for 90 minutes against a multi-talented Lions Spartans team. Work-horse Jason Lindsay scored the goal their performance deserved and he’ll be looking to do the business again to ensure this isn’t a coupon spoiler for the Brixton faithful.
Shamps told JC Sport: “Yes we are looking forward to this game after a good performance against Lions last week and will be very offensive in our play and a win is the only option to get through for the next round.”
I suggest the players don’t make any lunchtime arrangements as I can see this going down to the wire.
JC team news Brixton welcome back defender Michael Paterson.
Josh Hambling, John Lessem and James Rubin and Adam Goodman are welcomed back in to the Sosobad squad. Matthew Geppert could also make his return after nearlythree3 months on the sidelines with a knee injury. Joe Grant (thigh) is definitely out, while Elliott Coulton will be having a late fitness test.
Venue – Clowes, Ref – Steve Levy
JC star man: Michael Patterson (Brixton)
DC Prediction: Brixton 2 Sosobad 1 AET

FAITHFOLD A vs JEWDINESE
This is a potential banana skin for an inconsistent Faithfold team, and their fans know it.
Performances have gone backwards since the famous win over Hendon A, although boss Zuriel Solomons believes his boys were victims of a smash and grab at the hands of Woodford last week.
If Faithfold are to avoid embarrassment against their second division visitors, it’s important they win their individual and collective battles. The Faithfold manager will take no prisoners on Sunday and he didn’t mix his words in terms of expectations ahead of the big game.
Solomon told JC Sport: “Performances have been inconsistent to say the least and it is not the standard we are used to or what I will accept.
“Levels of performance have to step up and hard work in training and a strong belief will equal better performances.
“We have never played Jewdinese before so we’re not sure what to expect, but we know they will come with nothing to lose so we will make sure we respect our opponents.”
Jewdinese came out second best in a bruising encounter against Oakwood last Sunday. It’d might’ve been the perfect preparation for Sunday as I can see the young ‘Nese team raising their game, especially amid rumours of the JC cameras being in attendance.
The first 20 minutes will be crucial for the visitors on a day that will be all about belief. Win and the backpage of the JC will be up for grabs.
JC team news: Dan Howard and Sam Reeves miss out for Faithfold.

FC TEAM A vs SPEC FC
Team finished in seventh heaven and they will be confident of over-running first division SPEC FC in Mill Hill.
Shim Bensoor led the 7-1 riot against Neasden, with summer arrivals Yoav Lebens and Roie Spitzer scoring their first goals in the famous yellow and blue jerseys.
Ben Gilbey’s boys have really clicked into gear and they are a joy to watch. Their fans will certainly get value for money this season.
Ahead of the visit of SPEC, Gilbey told JC Sport: “We intend to make it three wins on the spin.
Our strikers have been in good form recently and I am hoping for more of the same on Sunday.”
SPEC registered a much-needed win in the league, with James Lesner keeping his cool from the penalty spot to earn maximum points against the Baums. But I’m not so sure about the celebration.
Ahead of the game, SPEC FC's Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: "This game is all about Dan 'DC' Cohen. Apparently, if we win, his brother David (James) Cohen, who plays for Team A, has to empty the dishwasher for a month!"
The cup is no more than a distraction for SPEC FC this season and I can see Team making another big statement of intent as the route to Wingate continues.
JC team news: The Weisz brothers are out for Team who otherwise have a strong squad available.

HARMEN vs TEMPLE FORTUNE
James Gershsfield must be licking his lips ahead of the visit of third division minnows Temple Fortune.
This is the draw Harmen wanted, and Fortune didn’t. They can double park two buses against the Premier Division high-flyers but not even that will be enough to stop a team who will be on the front foot from the off.
Harmen were at their battling best to earn a draw against Redbridge last Sunday, but joint-manager Joel Alterman assures me his players will be fully focused on the task at hand on Sunday.
Alterman told JC Sport: “On paper the game looks like an easy tie, but we are well aware of the ability of Temple Fortune’s players and we know how fired up they will be to try and cause a cup upset.
“We won’t be taking anything for granted and our preparation will be the same for this as it has been for all of our other fixtures so far.
“We will need to keep our concentration for 90 minutes to ensure we come away with a victory and progress through to the next round of a competition that we have high hopes for.”
Fortune showed signs of improvement, but with a few away and some others injuried it could be a long 90 minutes.
Boss Jonathan Cohen told JC Sport: "We know it will be an incredibly tough game for us against a team high in the Premier League so all I can ask my team for is maximum effort and resilient defensive display."
I have two words for a Fortune team who earned their first league point last Sunday – good luck!
Venue – Chase Lodge, Ref – Neal Cohen, KO – 10am

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B vs SHACHARIT DONETSK
Hendon manager Adam Glekin has confirmed he will reshuffle his squad once more for Sunday's cup clash with Shacharit Donetsk.
Despite making it clear he is not devaluing the cup, or underestimating his opponents, Glekin said he intends to give players who haven't played much this season a chance to impress.
"We will still have a very strong core in our side, but the cup game gives me the chance to shuffle the pack around them.
Glekin did not wish to disclose which players he would leave out, but said he would be demoting himself to a place on the bench.
"Being a new team, I don't know much about our opponents, but I believe they're a talented young side. We'll need to match their energy and enthusiasm on Sunday, and I'm confident that the side I put out will have enough to win the game.”
KS have been inconsistent thus far, but James Lewis will be looking for an improved showing following their frustrating draw against Temple Fortune.
The league is the priority for both teams, clearly, but that should stop the players from enjoying themselves, and goals look guaranteed.
JC team news: Gideon Caller, Ezra Dulberg, Joni Kleiman and Adam Jacobs are among the players returning to the Hendon squad.
Venue – Montrose Park, Ref – Tony McEvoy, KO – 10am
JC star man: Joni Kleiman (Hendon)
DC Prediction: Hendon 4 KS 3

KING CROWN vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE
Division Three leaders King Crown go in search of a major shock against a Lions team with a strong cup pedigree.
Jacob Kadoch's men are going great guns in the league, with five wins on the bounce. But on Sunday they will be looking to bridge the gap.
"I will be rotating the squad again for the cup." Kadoch told JC Sport. "i'm looking for the players who come in to make a big impact and play with freedom. The lads know they have nothing to lose."
Jamie Kyte returns to the dugout for Lions who were beaten 5-2 by Oakwood in the league last week. The performance of new Aussie signing Ric Jacobsen was the biggest plus point.
Kyte is expecting a tough test against a team on the up. "It should be a challenge for us," he told JC Sport. "King Crown are undefeated and will have the home advantage."
Lions have quality all over the park and I can't see them slipping up against a team that will huff and puff for 70 minutes.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
What out for the Hendon backlash. That's my warning for Redbridge on Sunday.
Last season's treble winners went out of the Jewish cup early for the second year in a row, but manager David Garbacz has vowed that his team will push as hard as ever for domestic trophies.
He told JC Sport: "We are looking forward to getting a run of Sundays going so that we can start getting into some sort of rhythm.
"Last week we were disappointed to exit the prestigious Sunday FA Cup, but in truth it is always a competition that ranks low in our list of season priorities and long-term was probably not a bad thing.
"We are as determined as ever to defend each and every one of our domestic trophies this season – there will be no letting up and the long road to Wingate starts with cup games against Redbridge B in both the Anekstein and the Morrison.
"As always, we will give our opposition much respect, but if we are anywhere near our best we should be able to get through quite comfortably.
"The squad is still forming – we have made one final signing this year – young David Seitler- and in my opnion he could be grabbing quite a few headlines as the season goes on. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone at this level with such pace. He's literally lightning quick."
RJC have made a good start and the east Londoners will be keen to show the holders exactly how good they are.
Ahead of kick-off, Jacobs told JC Sport: "We go into Sunday’s tie with no new injury worries and it promises to be a very good game between two footballing sides."
RJC have the players, belief and quality to ask questions, but over the course of 90 minutes I think Hendon will have just too much.
JC team news: Hendon keeper Russ Corin is doubtful with a hamstring injury. Evergreen Jeremy Reuben is on standby. David Seitler could come in for his debut.
RJC are awaiting news on the availability of Jordan Sapler. They welcome back Alex Chernoff, but will be missing Nathan Sollosi (long-term injury), Daniel Jacobs, Scott Oldstein, Richard Gold, Arron Goldberg, Matt Kemp and Harrison Grant (all away at University).

MACCABI LONDON LIONS GREEN vs OAKWOOD A
Oakwood are expected to make easy work of third division Lions Green, especially with Guy Helman back and Dave Woolman bang in form.
The 5-2 win over Lions Blue was an indicator as to exactly the Oaks are at the minute, and I firmly expect them to run out comfortable winners at the Lane on Sunday.
But joint-boss Ric Blank is taking nothing for granted. He told JC Sport: "As ever, when you play a Lions side you're not entirely sure what you're going to get.
"We played Lions Green in pre-season and they had a couple of their Saturday players playing so we expect a similar side this week.
"We'll be taking a strong squad. The aim is to get into good habits and be in the draw for the next round. Nothing more than that."
Lions have lost four out of five in Division Three this term and if they play a similar team to the one that has featured there, there should only be one winner, and a handsome one at that.
JC team news: Blank added: "We have plenty away and have been rocked by the news that Adam Levine will be out until Christmas with a knee injury. Bobbie Cousins isn't ready yet, but Eddie Manson will look to play his second game in the bounce for the first time in two years. Josh Bentley returns as does Dan Rose. Josh Rose is still in Miami. Lord knows what he's getting up to out there!"

NORTH WEST NEASDEN vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
The pressure is building on Neasden and boss Stirling Kay with just one win in five. They were crushed 7-1 by FC Team A last weekend and another tough game is on the cards as the NWN gaffer welcomes his former club to his new home.
Availability has been a problem for NWN, but Kay isn't complaining. He knows he can only work with the players he has.
NWN don't have another league game for three weeks, so it's crucial they pick up at least a point. However, three would keep the board and fans happy for a little longer.
RJC have made a solid start and they gained another point against Harmen last Sunday, though boss Sam Rosenthal felt that with a little more luck, it could have been three.
Steve Summers is firing and other players are starting to chip in. This all points towards a narrow RJC win for me.
JC star man: Steve Summers (RJC)

DIVISION ONE
CAMDEN PARK vs BLIZZARD STORM
Confidence is high in the Camden camp following a sizzling comeback against Brady which took them to the summit.
Boss Nick Kagan has had the luxury of bringing Dan Baneth off the bench and he has certainly been a game-changer in recent weeks.
The goals have been flying in for the brilliant Baneth who followed up his hat-trick against SPEC with a double against Brady.
With home matches against Brixton and Raiders to follow later this month, the Camden boys will be looking to make another big statement against big-spending Blizzard on Sunday.
Mitch Green has been the main man for Blizzard thus far. The former Montana man is versatility personified and Linden could be leaving Camden guessing until the final moment.
He told JC Sport: "We know we are up against a good side in Camden, they are the form team at the moment.
"I'm pleased with our progress - a lot has happened since our opening day defeat against Camden and the boys will want to put that right Sunday.
"Mitch Green is the man of the moment and when asked what position he will start this weekend linden answered back: he could be our keeper, only position he hasn't had a go at!"
A high-octane affair is on the cards and I can see Camden's momentum taking them through, against a team struggling for a regular keeper.
JC team news: Dave Cohen and Conor Brand miss out for Blizzard.
Venue – White City, Ref – Robert Benardout
JC star man: Guy Marks (Camden)
DC Prediction: Camden 3 Blizzard 2

CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI vs AC MILL HILL
Catford are their own worst enemies at the minute, and that will be music to the ears of Mill Hill chief Dan Beresford.
Basics error have hampered their problems, leaving boss Lester Jacobs pulling his hair out.
A narrow defeat against L'Equipe has left them rooted to the foot of the table and they will need to be at their best against Mill Hill's talented forward line on Sunday.
Catford captain Adam Luria told JC Sport: We're still smarting from Sunday, a game where we should have taken a point at the very least, and yet still managed to come away with nothing.
"We've got a decent squad this week - the main aim this week has got to be to take our chances. Do that and we'll turn these losses where we've dominated into wins and draws.
"If this season isn't to be a complete write-off, we've got to start doing it soon."
Beresford gave his Mill Hill players the hairdryer after the 4-4 draw against Whetstone last week. They were great going forward, but schoolboy defending halted their progress.
No doubt, Beresford will instruct his backline to adopt a no-nonsense approach, finding row Z will be order of the day. Get it to the front men early and let them play between the lines and get behind Catford.
But if they give the Cats any encouragement, they could have their pockets picked.
JC team news: The Cats are missing Jeff Gotch, Simon Wolfson, Dan Green, Andrew Charles and Josh Krewne.
Venue – Norseman FC, Ref – David Lazarus

DC Prediction: Catford 2 Mill Hill 3

FC TEAM C vs L’EQUIPE
Team will be looking to move to within three points of top spot when they welcome promotion rivals L'Equipe.
David Gordon's boys were at their Sunday best last week when they came from behind to send first division Blancos tumbling out of the cup.
Aron Barnes was the star man, putting in a real shift, with all four defenders on top of their game.
No doubt Gordon will have a word in the ear of B-team boss Mitch Young, who mastermined a 4-0 win over L'Equipe on the opening weekend of the season.
Gordon told JC Sport: "We have two league games in a row now for the first time this season and we are aiming to get some more points on the board and pull away from the teams below us.
"Having produced our best performance of the season last weekend, we will be looking to build on that but we won’t be taking L’Equipe lightly.
"I’m expecting the same level of commitment and effort that we produced last week and we will need to be at our very best to get three points on Sunday.”
L'Equipe legend JJ Marrache popped up with a late winner against Catford last week, adding to another strike from James Mandell.
The squad is buoyant after back-to-back wins, but I can see them having to defend for long periods on Sunday.
JC team news: FC Team's Ben Graham is out for the season having torn his cruciate. Mitch Lassman is still injured, while Matt Davis and Ben Radstone also miss out. Dan Alfreds, James Milman, Josh Kaye and Freddie Marks all return to the squad.
Venue – Aycliffe Playing Fields, Ref – Gary Silver, KO – 10am

LOS BLANCOS vs NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B
Both Blancos and NLR B find themselves in the wrong half of the table, but I can't see that stopping the players from producing an open and entertaining affair on Sunday.
NLR are unbeaten, although they have yet to win on their travels, and that's something Jonathan Adelman and co will be keen to change, starting on Sunday.
Blancos have lost three out of four and it's fair to say the season hasn't started as they would've liked.
Boss Jonathan Ison is looking for a big improvement from his men and there's no better time than Sunday.
"We need to turn things around this season," he told JC Sport. "Our performances at times have been pleasing on the eye, but things have not clicked yet.
"We have a couple of new signings this week, and I hope at least one of them will hit the back of the net this Sunday and start our a winning run.
"I know that things will fall into place, I am just hoping that it starts to this Sunday."
Goals are guaranteed in a game I can see finishing honours even.

DIVISION THREE
KS REUNITED vs BOCA JEWNIORS
It's been a tough start for Boca this campaign. Having played a rampant King Crown twice in their opening three league games, and a strong Blizzard side in the cup, Gabe John's men haven't had an easy fixture yet.
Whilst that's not the indication for Sunday's game, KS Reunited may prove to be a side that Boca can get into a stride against.
John told JC Sport: "KS are a new side and i'm really hoping that we click on Sunday. I know these boys can do better than we have and next week is in the back of my mind against arch rivals London Rovers."
John is smarting over the loss of Ash Diamond to injury, but the new addition of Josh Mizrachi and the continued brilliance of Brad Segal in goal gives the Boca gaffer continued hope.
"Players like Josh Marlow and Jack Goldsmith continue to do well, and with old faces like Brett Shuman and Sefton Monk pushing for places, it will not be long until Boca get their first league win and get on the way.
"It's not long until we show our true colours, just like we did the first 45 minutes against King Crown."
KS slipped up against Temple Fortune last week, although another goal from James Ryan was one of the highlights.
KS seem like a side capable of raising their game against the big boys, but they can struggle to hit the same heights against teams in the bottom half.
That might just be music to the ears of John and co who are ready to deliver.
