Maccabi GB have started the search to find the best, Jewish sportspeople of the year.
The list of categories for the 2014 MGB Sports Awards, sponsored by the Pierre Gildesgame Memorial Fund, have been increased to incorporate Open, Juniors and Masters ages groups in both the individual and team awards.
A total of seven winners can be nominated, and subsequently announced, before the end of the year.
Competition in the ‘Teams’ categories is expected to be high this year with the likes of Team Maccabi GB’s record-breaking JCC Maccabi Games Squad; treble-winning, MGBSFL side Hendon United A, MJSL powerhouses Manchester Maccabi and undefeated Maccabi GB Futsal all having stellar seasons.
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, who will be announced at a later date, who will cast their votes after entries close on December 4.
Those who will pick up their prestigious awards will be following in the footsteps of last year’s winners – International footballer, Dean Furman (John Dymant Senior Sportsperson of the Year), Squash prodigy, Elise Lazarus (Sam Bulka Junior Sportsperson of the Year) and joint-winners of the UJIA Team of the Year, Team Maccabi GB’s 19th Maccabiah Games U16 Football and Junior Netball Teams.
