Andy Landesberg believes Jack Mattey is destined for big things after the teenager became the youngest player to represent London Lions’ first team against Letchworth Garden City.

Aged 16 and 14 days, Mattey came on as a second-half substitute and put in an impressive performance in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division encounter that ended 2-2.

He is a graduate of the club’s under-16 team and the son of former Lions star Alan Mattey, who died following an illness nine years ago.

Landesberg said: “Jack was invited to train with the first team a few weeks ago and he has not looked back.
