Masters League ready for lift off

The Maccabi Masters Football League kicks off its 16th year on Sunday with 15 teams, one more than last season, battling it out for glory.

Division One, which features players age over 33, contains seven teams, including new boys Chigwell Athletic, HMH, Faithfold and Scrabble Harmen. Eight sides will contest Division Two.

The League plays the majority of matches on artificial pitches and have secured a new ground at the old Kingsbury Town FC which has a new 3G surface.

MMFL chairman Stuart Lustigman said: "With participation in the 11-a-side game generally decreasing nationally, I am delighted that the Masters League has actually increased its number.
