FAITHFOLD DOCMM WHITE 2 HMH 1

Markiewicz revealed his pre-match selection headache ahead of kick-off when he said: "It was another one of those weekends where I called every Jew I know to see if they could play. I thought those days were behind me!" With Akiva Solomon, Gideon Rabstein, Avi Mocton, Richard Hayim, Dovi Vogel, Lorian Madanes, David Clements and Jack Joseph all out, Markiewicz "feared the absolute worst" against a very talented and youthful HMH side. That was just the regulars, most of our part-timers couldn't play either. In the end Faithfold managed to scrape together 11, with a 12th player arriving at half-time, including two 'on-the-day' signings - Avi Grayeff and Yitzy Hill. That however was was where Faithfold left their woes behind.

Faithfold had a very clear game-plan - sit back on the halfway line, but not too deep, making sure to keep their shape and minimise the space between their attack, midfield and defence. This would not allow HMH to play through them and frustrate them into long balls, which the home defence and goalkeeper (Gideon Caller) would deal with. It worked pretty much perfectly for 90 minutes.
