The goal deluge continued in the Maccabi Masters League with 33 being notched up in six games.
In Division 1, and despite going behind to a Greg Morris goal, Brady A won the early season title indicator 4-1 over arch rivals Glenthorne A, thanks to a brace from Mark Wagman and goals from David Sawyer and Scott Ansher.
Meanwhile South Mancs A recorded their first win, beating North London Raiders 2-0 with strikes from Gavin Sherman and Paul Rodin.
In Division 2, South Mancs’ B team also won, despatching Clayhall 5-1 courtesy of Richard Smith, Paul Herszaft (2), Oren Wolf and Marc Schneiderman. Mark Goldman scored Clayhall’s consolation.
Not to be outdone, Glenthorne B scored six against Temple Fortune, Adam Lennard netting a hat-trick and Steve Larn, Adam Hart and debutant Trevor Granger also adding to Fortune’s woes. James Ryan produced Fortune’s solitary response.
But top-scorers of the day were EDRS, who put seven past Brady B without reply, Mark Kingston getting five, and Gary Shaw and Jacob Namer one apiece.
And in the contest between Lions and Norstar, Stuart Coutts broke the deadlock with a deft lob to give Lions a first-half lead, and doubled Lions’ advantage just after the break. A Steve Feiger header brought Norstar back into the game, only for Derrick Beare to restore Lions’ two-goal lead minutes later. But Norstar refused to capitulate, and two goals in the last three minutes, from Lee Cohen and a second from Feiger, gave Norstar a hard-earned point.
