January 22, 2018 15:39Trailing to goals from HMH’s Jonny Gordon and Jamie Beaumont (2), the Lions rallied with two goals apiece from Max Radford and Bradley Lazarus to leapfrog Chigwell Athletic into second spot.
Division Two leaders EHRS suffered a surprise first league defeat of the season as they were edged out by Glenthorne.
Nick Sion's opener for Glenthorne was cancelled out by a long-range thunder-bolt by Adam Kern. But Gary Adams sealed the points for the east Londoners.
Meanwhile, the Maccabi Masters Rep Team were swept aside 9-0 by highly-fancied Manchester Maccabi 1st in the third round of the Peter Morrison Trophy.
A second-half hat-trick from SAM VAN GELDER, plus strikers from David Herman, Michael Sacks, Sam Hatton (2), Max Foster and an own goal eased them through.
MMFL player-manager Jon Yantin told JC Sport: "There was clearly a breakdown in communication. We were of the belief it was a walking football competition and then these teenagers started running around us. We shall be reporting it to the organisers and look forward to the re match at a more sedate pace.
"Manchester were excellent and, in truth, had both sides not spent so much time and money on travel and arrangements there was no way the tie would have been played due to the weather.
"The pitch was entirely covered in snow and the younger legs delay with the frozen and heavy conditions far easier than their opposition - on average 20 years older.
"Hopefully they’ll go on to win and at least there is a little comfort in that we lost to the cup winners."
