Scrabble came away with a surprise 4-3 victory over cup finalists Glenthorne United A in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League. Danny Sugarman (2) and Jason Levy registered for Glenthorne.

Less of a surprise was North London Raiders’ win over South Mancs, although few will have predicted the scoreline, with Raiders running out 9-1 winners.

Gary Cohen (3), Wayne Davidson (2), Lloyd Becker (2), Gavin Hodes and Darren Cohen were the marksmen.

Fewer still would have won any money backing the South Mancs scorer, player-manager Dan Graham, who put aside any disappointment in the result to focus on his rare strike, which he likened to one from Romanian great, Gheorghe Hagi, insisting it was intentional.
