LONDON LIONS 3 SUN POSTAL SPORTS
London Lions moved into second in the table with a hard fought 3-1 win over a vastly improved Sun Postal Sports side.
Lions have been warned several times this season not to under-estimate any side they play in this league as it only takes a bad day at the office to lose three important points.
The first 45 minute half was arguably on par with the worst Lions has played this season; once again Lions were sloppy, untidy and incredibly wasteful when in possession, but credit to the visitors who worked incredibly hard chasing every ball and putting the home side under vast amounts of pressure.
Lions are certainly missing some key personnel due to injury and manager Tony Gold hopes the likes of Josh Kennet, Craig Ellis and Matt Stock can return to full match fitness in the near future.
Both sides were guilty of missing good chances to open the scoring before Sun Postal took advantage of Lions sloppy possession on 29 minutes and forged ahead.
Again it was the wake-up call the home side needed and almost instantaneously they were level. Guy Helman cut inside the right back and unleashed a bullet of a shot that flew into the net.
Half time couldn’t have come quick enough. Whatever words were exchanged at half-time it seemed to do the trick and Lions came out a different side with far more purpose.
Sun Postal continued to work hard and press Lions, but the home side had now found their rhythm and were starting to open up their opponents.
Dean Nyman burst down the Lions right beat two men and his cross was dispatched by the deadly Adam Bolle for his 17th of the season and more importantly Lions second of the game.
On 65 minutes Ben Ellis and Danny Berg were introduced into the fray, replacing Helman and Nyman.
With the game still finally balanced with 10 minutes to play, Lions hammered home the final nail as Ellis scored a cracking individual effort to secure the three points.
Having moved into second, Lions have now won 14 out 16 league games and entertain in-form Crawley Green at the Lane next Saturday.
