London Maccabi Vale 1st marched 12 points clear at the top of the Middlesex Sunday League Division Two table after beating Finchley by 62 runs at Arden Field.

A third wicket partnership of 161, last 107 minutes and 24 overs, between opener Danny Caro and captain Adam Brand enabled LMV to post 258-5 from their 40 overs.

Things did not start well however as Alex Haffner was caught behind attempting a pull while Daniel Becker was caught behind.

But Caro and Brand gradually took the game away from Finchley. With conditions perfect for batting, Brand found the boundary with great regularity and his knock of 104 from 72 deliveries included 15 fours and one six.
