SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
LONDON LIONS 0 CRAWLEY GREEN 4
A severe lack of player commitment was once again Lions undoing, as they went down 4-0 at home to Crawley Green.
One has to feel sorry for regular contributors - Ben Winters, Jake Rinsler, Max Kyte, Andy Gylnne, Zac Rose, Rafi Soccairello and Mario Cenolli - who turn up every week fully committed and yet who end up playing with individuals who are invariably doing the club a favour.
The individuals who wore the Lions shirts this week gave their all, but a severe lack of quality, fitness and game understanding at the level, against a well organised, fit and physical side in Crawley Green, proved far too much to handle.
The goals Lions conceded were indicative of the current situation facing the management team. The game against Crawley Green was Lions 14th of the season and they are yet to put the same side out twice.
For 25 minutes the home side huffed and puffed but rarely threatened and as the game wore on it became all too easy for the visitors.
Damage limitation was the ultimate goal and Lions did extremely well to keep the score down to four.
Lions welcome a break from midweek action this week, but next Saturday they travel to neighbours Belstone in the second round of the Herts Centenary Trophy.
