London Lions manager Tony Gold believes his troops are well equipped to improve on last season's disappointing seventh place finish as their Herts Senior County League Premier Division campaign kicks off on Saturday.

Gold's men completed their preparations on Tuesday night when they took on Cuffley in the Potters Bar Charity Cup, a competition they reached the semi-finals of last season.

Ahead of the league clash against Sandridge Rovers at Rowley Lane, Gold said: "We're looking a lot fitter than last year. We play a stringent system and everyone has a role to play."

New signings include keeper Rob Abrahams from Potters Bar and former Wingate & Finchley defender Guy Helman. Alex Levack returns to the fold while Scott Kaye has been promoted from the club's successful Under 18 team. Ben Lampert, Daniel Castle and Adam Klein have joined the club from the JC MSFL while Wingate & Finchley Under 18 players Ben Ellis and Shai Revivo hope to catch the eye. Ben Lauffer has also returned after a spell with Wingate reserves.
