Adam Laws won men’s title at the Maccabi GB Table Tennis Championships in Edgware.

The top seed came through a field of 30 entrants, beating fellow England top 50 rival Eli Baraty 3-1 in the final.

There was a surprise in the quarter-final stages, with Jeremy Banks beating Keith Lesser. Laws progressed after seeing off the experienced Matt Spero, while a top-class performance from Guy Ben-Aroya accounted for Dov Katz.

Baraty booked his place in the last four by halting Ivan Lewis’s impressive day with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
