Late strikes from Mark Herman and Mark Wagman helped Brady Maccabi A clinch part one of a possible double after they overcame a resilient Faithfold in the Henry Swerner Cup final at Wingate & Finchley.
Herman broke the deadlock a minute from time with Wagman sealing the tie a minute into injury time.
Brady manager Daniel Collins said: “It was a very close game in the pouring rain. Faithfold played extremely well from the start. They didn’t let us play our normal style of football and it wasn’t until I moved a number of players around at half time did we get on top.
“Their guest keeper was in inspired form and it wasn’t until I was planning the penalty takers as I thought the game would finish in a draw. Faithfold should be very proud of their performance.”
Brady now need to beat Faithfold again this Sunday to force a play off for the league and the potential double.
Collins said: “My players never gave up and showed the spirit needed if we are to do the double again.”
