Lee Korzits has won her third consecutive women’s RS:X World Windsurfing Championship title in Brazil.

Korsitz, 28, claimed her fourth world crown and becomes only the second female windsurfer to achieve a hat-trick of titles.

She said that her win was a major consolation for her Olympic failure in Weymouth last summer when she slipped out of the medal positions to finish sixth in the final race.

Korzits went into the final race in Brazil with an unassailable lead and described it as her "sweetest world title". Korzits said: "I’ve had to pick myself up and overcome a lot of mental and physical obstacles."
