Marc Magid has promised to keep faith in youth after South Manchester Sports 2nd secured their place in their second cup final of the season.
A solitary effort from Harry Nelson guided them past Reich Insurance in the semi-finals of the Tony Cohen Cup.
The holders will now play either Manchester Maccabi Blue or Heaton Park Rovers followed by a return meeting with Reich in the Harold Feldman Trophy in Altrincham on May 5.
After winning their dress rehearsal, player-manager Magid said: “I would have loved three cup finals but maybe that is being greedy.
"So we will take two and we are on course for third place in the league. If you had offered me that at the start of the season I would have bitten your hand off.
"I'm very happy with what we have done. We have created a nice blend of youngsters and experienced players. The attitude is great and there is a great family atmosphere at the club.
"My son plays and Phil Gordon, our central midfielder, also plays alongside his son.
"I've had the choice of 20 players. Normally you are fighting by begging players to play. Now I’m fighting to pick players as they all want to be part of it."
Magid’s selection headache will see him sit out the two finals after sacrificing himself for the showpiece occasions.
He said: “There’s no room for me. I’m good enough to play but I will stick to the league games. I wouldn’t dream of depriving a young player the chance to play in a final. I’ve been there and done it.”
Meanwhile, the MJSL Representative team retained the Darren Rose Memorial Trophy after a penalty shoot-out win over a Manchester Maccabi Select XI.
The teams finished deadlocked at 3-3 in the annual game before Alex Swift converted the decisive spot-kick as the MJSL won for the second successive year.
