Kerem, JFS and King Solomon were toasting sporting success after winning respective Maccabi GB school netball and football tournaments.
Held in partnership with UJIA, Kerem won the Primary Netball Tournament for Year 6 at London Maccabi GB.
The Primary Netball tournament saw seven schools bring 12 teams to compete, in total 100 girls participated in the event. Despite the cold weather the girls battled hard and the games were exciting and full of goals.
It was credit to the players that so many parents and teachers also turned out to brave the cold conditions to support their teams.
Clore Shalom and Kerem that made it through to the final, and both teams produced a great spectacle. With the scores level at full time the game went into an extra time period, and with seconds remaining Kerem managed to work a play and finished it off with a goal to claim victory.
The following day saw the Secondary Schools compete in the Football Tournament for Years 10, 11 and 12 students. Three schools attended the event bringing 10 teams, in total 100 boys took part.
As with the other secondary tournaments the teams were split into different year groups with the Year 10 pupils playing in one tournament and the Year 11 and 12 players competing in their own group.
The competition was played in a league basis with each team playing each other once and the winning team taking the winners medals.
In the Year 10 group JFS went through the whole afternoon unbeaten to take top spot and claim their medals.
In the seniors group it was King Solomon who were unbeatable, winning all their games to finish top and deservedly taking home the medals.
Scott Shulton, Maccabi GB’s Sports Coordinator, reflected on another busy week for the sports programme. He said: “Once again, we have delivered sports tournaments to over 200 young people this week.
"Over the course of this term Maccabi GB has reached in excess of 1,200 young people, providing them with the opportunity to represent their schools in sporting activities and show their sporting talents.”
