Keeper saves South with an outFletched hand

The second goal was always going to be important and it came out of nowhere through Jack Lee. Lee, who played his first 90 minutes in over 12 years is enjoying his football. Spotting the keeper off his line, he finessed a delightful chip from 25 yards, adding to South's lead.

Fletcher then came into his own, making countless saves from long range, close range and was equal to everything, only to be beaten by a penalty kick in the 60th minute.

South held out for a nervy final half hour, to record their second win of the season.

Neil Collins, South's 1st XI manager, said: "It was a close game throughout, but you could tell we'd all been to shul midweek - someone was looking down on us.

"Credit to the boys who dug their heels in, riding some hard tackles in the process. We will spend some time repenting this week, before going again on Sunday against Chorlton Sports."
