Maccabi GB have announced their Junior Team managers for the 2015 European Maccabi Games in Berlin.
Brian Green will be Junior Team Manager chair, while Abbi and Neil Taylor Junior Team managers.
Brian Green has 35 years of experience managing youth sports teams. He was Team GB’s Junior Team Manager at the European Maccabi Games in Rome (2007) and Vienna (2011) and Sports Chair for Junior Football/Futsal at the last two Maccabiah World Games in Israel. Green will also be Head of Delegation for Team GB at the JCC Maccabi Games for the fifth year this summer.
Neil Taylor is a Sports and Exercise Science teacher in a sixth form college in London. He has experience of working with members of the Team GB Olympic and Paralympic squads within schools around the UK as well as working as a first aider at the 2012 Paralympic Games. He has been to two JCC's and two Maccabiah Games as Sports Manager and athlete and has come away from all those games with great success, including managing and coaching the first-ever Maccabi GB under-18 Rugby squad to a Maccabiah silver medal and Guinness World Record. Taylor has always been a keen sportsman, playing rugby, track & field and swimming to county standard.
Abbi Taylor is a physiotherapist within the NHS who has also worked in this role at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games and has subsequently been selected to help with Team GB's Disability Swimming Squad in preparation for Rio 2016.
As a keen swimmer herself, Abbi has competed, managed and been part of the medical team at numerous Maccabi GB sporting events including four JCC's, one European Games and three Maccabiahs, including managing the Junior and Open swimming teams at this year’s event.
Abbi and Neil met as part of the management team for the 2010 JCC Maccabi Games in Denver and subsequently married five weeks before this year’s 19th Maccabiah Games.
Speaking about the appointments, Brian Green said: "I am extremely excited to be working with the Junior Delegation once again for the European Maccabi Games. It will be a special Games in Berlin in 2015 and we are committed to take an extremely competitive Junior Delegation who can not only enjoy the competition, but also make the most of educational opportunities Berlin undoubtedly offers."
Abbi Taylor said: "I am very keen to promote education alongside sport within my role as Junior Team Manager in Berlin. I think it is important to make sure that the athletes selected for Berlin 2015 make a lot of friends, have a fantastic sporting experience and learn along the way."
Neil Taylor commented: "I have a passion for sport and management which I hope will enable Maccabi GB to succeed at the European Maccabi Games both on and off the pitch."
