Josh Rosenfeld, the manager of Brady Maccabi, was keen to play down the contribution of strikers Josh Hershman and Mark Smith whose hat-tricks helped maintain their promotion charge in a six-goal demolition of fellow high-flyers Camden Park.
Hershman was at his dazzling best in front of the JC cameras for the second time this season. Officially a winger, he has now bagged 15 in all competitions, and his form has led to Rosenfeld recommending him to Rep Team manager Danny Berg ahead of this week's get-together.
The tireless Smith was not far behind him. He chased every ball and terrorised the Camden defence all morning.
"Both forwards did a tremendous amount of work for the team," said Rosenfeld. "They are scoring for fun at the moment. I must stress, though, that it's our whole team that is winning us games. We may be small in size but we are as fit and strong as any other team in this league."
Hershman got his team off to a perfect start with a scorching 25-yard half volley early on which Will Castle could only watch sail into his top right hand corner.
There then followed a 15-minute interruption as Camden captain Jamie Lustigman dislocated his shoulder and was taken to hospital. Camden never fully recovered from his loss and, indeed, had to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men after sub Jamie Smith was injured.
It was business as usual for Hershman who bagged another midway through the half. He rode a challenge before sliding the ball past the keeper. Luke Brookner's superb outswinging free kick for Camden drew a fabulous flying save from Ollie Colmans, before the Brady keeper gave away a penalty just before half time when was deemed to have missed a sliding tackle. He saved Brookner's spot-kick but Brookner thudded home the rebound to keep his side in touch at the break.
Brady started the second half at a high tempo and were rewarded when Hershman set up Smith for a tap-in before completing his hat-trick by neatly chested a through ball and slotting home.
The lively Mark Klein appeared to offer Camden hope 20 minutes from time when he took the ball in from the left byline and curled a brilliant shot round Colmans. However, with Jamie Smith hobbling off Camden were unable to sustain any pressure and conceded two late breakaway goals courtesy of Mark Smith - one a run in on goal from a through pass and the other a tap-in which registered his third and his teams' sixth.
Camden's Jamie Smith said: "It was a disaster today; losing our captain and then myself having to go off. We obviously need a bigger squad. Having said that we actually played quite well in patches, but were caught at the back."
