And, yet again, we are left to reflect on another abysmal qualifying campaign as Israel proved incapable of mixing it with Europe's finest.

However, the good news is that they will only play Shirley once more in the league, and they won't be up against a top marksman in Saul Conway and a former West Bromwich Albion player in Nicky Plotnek every week.
● As a the No. 1 Jewish sports hypochondriac, I'm often asked for recommendations for a good doctor. Well I can tell you that a very good one is coming to north west London very soon. Dr Ralph Rogers, who recently resigned as first-team doctor from Chelsea FC, will be practising at the Wellington Diagnostic Centre in Golders Green.
Rogers, a black American Jew, was headhunted by Roman Abramovich but departed during the summer following the appointment of Paco Biosca as the club's medical director.
It was reported that Rogers was thought to have been unhappy at working under Biosca because the Spaniard was not yet registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), as required by FA, Premier League and GMC legislation, if he is to practise medicine in this country.
● Not many could have predicted Inter Borehamwood's fall from grace. It was only a couple of months ago that our pages were splashed with photos of jubilant players cracking open the bubbly. Their withdrawal from the league shows you just how quickly things can go wrong. The departure of key players such as Jeff Gotch and Mark Meltzer led to the parting of the waves.
