The Israeli FA has submitted a bid to stage matches at Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium at Euro 2020.

Bids were due to close on Friday for the event which to mark Uefa’s 60th anniversary. It will be held in 13 cities of Uefa member countries instead of the usual format of one or two countries.

Israel FA spokeswoman Michal Grundland told the JC: "We will be up against tough competition, but we have proven our ability to stage tournaments at the highest level.

"The European Under 21 finals in June were considered one of the best in the history of the competition."
