Sam Little admits he faces the biggest challenge of his career as he prepares for life away from the top tier of golf.
Little failed to finish high enough up the rankings to retain his European Tour Card and now faces Qualifying School to win back his spot.
But the 38-year-old is out to ensure his stay back on the Challenge Tour is shortlived as he is determined to battle his way back to the summit of the European game.
He said: "I'm confident I can win back my card. I have been playing, either amateur or at professional level, for almost 20 years.
"This is all I know and love. I realise my career is at a crossroads now, but I have been here before and bounced back. I’m confident I can do it again."
Little’s career highlights include runner-up spots in the 2007 Majorca Classic and at the Czech Open two years later.
But the Ricksmanworth professional, who took seven attempts before graduating via qualifying school, believes he can rediscover his old form as he bids to win back his playing rights.
"Your form dips from time to time,” he said. “I can’t put my finger on why my form has left me, but the hunger is still there. I still have a burning ambition to make the Ryder Cup. That is the ultimate dream."
Little is no stranger to success on the Challenge Tour having won five events. Before the start of next year’s tour, he will be the hitting the driving range and practice green at The Grove.
He said: "I hope to do some teaching and playing and am keen to raise some funds via sponsorship."
