HPR then incurred the wrath of referee Allan Black after goal-scorer Seligman and Richard Myers saw red for dissent.
But with the tie level, Ben Aniss struck with 10 minutes left and HPR held out following a late onslaught.
HPR now face Leeds Maccabi 2nds in the last four-tie on Sunday and player-boss David Seligman was just relieved to progress.
He said: "I thought we had tossed the game away. But we nicked a goal through Ben and then threw our bodies on the line.
"We were warriors out there to protect our lead. All I can say about the red cards is that they were laughable decisions.
"I won't defend my players if they have done wrong, But they just fell victims to some crazy decisions as the referee lost the plot."
