I sensed the feeling of unfinished business when Michael Klinger committed another campaign to Gloucestershire CC.
Having had his season cut short by injury, the former Maccabiah star is now settling into his new home in Perth after moving from South Australia to Western Australia.
Klinger said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years with Gloucestershire and foresee a bright future for the club.
"I felt there was progress in our one-day cricket this season, while our Championship form was hit by a number of injuries.
"With another year’s experience under their belts, I am confident our younger players will be even stronger next summer."
* David Wolff led the tributes to MGBSFL senior Vice President Stanley Schaverien, who passed away earlier this week.
Schaverien played for Brighton and Hove Maccabi and MAL during the 1950’s and 60’s and on retirement went on to become a respected referee. He joined the Management Committee in the 1970’s and took over as Referees Secretary from the late Harry Waters, and helped to develop a very fine and competent panel of referees.
Wolff said: "Stan was one of my oldest footballing friends and was prominent in the development of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League."
* The first round of the Cyril Anekstein Cup takes centre stage this weekend, with the tie of the round seeing former winners Redbridge Jewish Care A visiting Norstar London Raiders A.
It’s a contest worthy of the final and with an impressive win against Oakwood under their belts, Sam Rosenthal’s boys will be bang up for it.
