LFA SUNDAY CHALLENGE CUP ROUND ONE
BALDON SPORTS 3 HENDON UTD SPORTS CLUB A 1
David Garbacz picked the positives out of Hendon's cup exit as the Reds slipped out against Baldon Sports, with Greg Corin grabbing a consolation.
Disappointed Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "We were extremely disappointed to go out of this prestigious competition - we were up against a top-quality outfit who had four to five semi-professional players in their ranks, but the boys relish the chance to test themselves against this type of opposition and we felt we could have produced more on the day.
"Having granted them far too much respect in the first 25 minutes we found ourselves deservedly 1-0 down, but slowly but surely we started to get a grip of our opponents and scored a fine equaliser just before half time and finished the first half much the better team.
"Unfortunately we failed to carry that momentum into the second half and despite a brilliant Russ Corin penalty save, we switched off badly at two set-pieces and against that standard of team it proved disastrous.
"We felt we acquitted ourselves well but on balance cannot have any complaints about the final score.
"It is a shame to go out, but as in last season it could prove to be a blessing in disguise, as we put all our eggs once more into the domestic basket in our quest to retain our trophies."
