Hartsbourne won the 70th Glancy Cup at Potters Bar Golf Club.
They fought off the challenge of 17 fellow Association clubs featuring teams of eight in an event arranged by the Association of Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies.
With a team from Wales & South West competing for the first time, the two-day Glancy Tournament started with foursomes with each club having four pairings and the best three out of four scores being aggregated to provide the team score.
Hartsbourne led overnight with a team score of 223 gross. Jeremy Bohn and Mark Gershinson contributed a gross score of 68, 3 under par and winning the Whitefield Cup for the best gross score in the foursomes.
Sunday’s play was in singles format with six scores out of eight counting toward the team score. Potters Bar produced the best performance with a gross score of 463 for their 6 best scores and consequently won the Moor Allerton Cup.
Hartsbourne’s overnight leading score coupled with their score in the singles of 466, enabled them to triumph overall. And for the third time in four years they were winners of the Glancy Cup, beating Dyrham Park by 12 shots with a total of 689.
Potters Bar member Paul Coburn won the Hartsbourne Cup for the lowest gross score in the singles. Playing off eight, he put together a great round of 71 to beat the field by one shot
The Association recognises that the Societies have a smaller pool of golfers to choose from and are generally unable to compete with the large clubs for the main Glancy Trophy.
Therefore the Southport Society Trophy is awarded for the lowest 6 gross singles combined with lowest 3 gross scores in foursomes by a society and this was won by Notts & Sheffield with a score of 741.
The North East Jewish Golfing Society completed their most successful Glancy by winning the Best 3 nett scores in the foursomes for a society and 6 nett in the singles.
