In their first trial match for the forthcoming Maccabiah, the Maccabi GB open football squad ran out 6-2 winners against a lower league Spanish side Union Las Rozas.
Played at the magnificent Spanish FA training facility near Madrid. MGB dominated the first half scoring five, but soon tired in the second period as the Spanish side brought on stronger defensive players curtailing MGB’s goal spree, to just one in the second period.
Paul Hakim got a hat-trick, James Gershfield a brace, but it was Matt Stock that opened the MGB account in the third minute. Three further trial games have been arranged in the UK before the main event in Israel in July.
