London Maccabi Vake’s 1st XI registered their third consecutive win in the Chess Valley League following a hard-fought vic-tory over Bessborough.
Joseph Greenwall-Cohen starred with the ball, with his five-wicket haul restrict-ing the visitors to 105.
After a top-order wobble, Adam Spooner held his nerve to steer LMV home with an over remaining to lift them into third place in Division Three. LMV captain Neil Lederman said:
“The ball swung, but the batting was horrendous from both teams.
“Joseph bowled with good control and swing for the second week running and this time got his rewards.
“Adam also deserves a big mention for keeping a level head while wickets kept falling at the other end.
“He batted very maturely to see the side home.”
Meanwhile, LMV's top junior performers were rewarded for their efforts at their end-of-season colts awards.
Competing in the Middlesex Association East Division, the club’s respective under-11 and under-13 teams produced an improved showing in a rain-affected campaign.
In the 11s, Jacob Caro collected the Best Batsman prize, with the top bowler going to Jacob Cowan. Dylan Harrod retained the Best Fielder prize, with Joseph Levy winning the Most Improved accolade.
Sam Wolfson was named top batsman for the U13’s, while Joseph Sweiry and Sam Feigenbaum were recognised as the top bowler and all-rounder respectively.
