GOLF Host club Hartsbourne were crowned winners of the prestigious Metropolitan Trophy.

Club captain Nick Wilson received the silverware after a competition hampered by torrential showers.

Playing off two, Mark Gershinson mastered the conditions. He started his round with four successive birdies and eventually signed for an exceptional score of 69 (-2 under par), winning the Coombe Hill Cup for the best men’s individual gross score.

Dyrham Park’s Laura Rael Brook took the ladies individual title, going round in 86. She won the Shirley Porter Cup for the best women’s individual gross.
