"We dominated throughout and played with a high level of intensity from the start. Hendon made it difficult for us to break them down, but we eventually got our breakthrough and the goal was nothing less than we deserved.
"Our goal came from great link play between Josh Jacobs and our new signing Adam Goodman who joined during the week. I'm delighted for him to score with a such a good finish on his debut and really ecstatic to have him on board.
"I'm glad we are now off the mark, but we know there's a long way to go and it's important we remain focused and start working towards another positive performance next week."
Hendon boss Adam Glekin told JC Sport: "Credit to Real - they're a good side and pass the ball very well. They bossed the game for the most part, but we defended magnificently, particularly James Neidle and Ezekiel Jacob at centre back.
"Despite their possession, they didn't have a lot of clear cut chances so it was disappointing when we did concede.
"I questioned our commitment a fortnight ago, but today it was second to none. The lads all worked their socks off and can go home and munch on some well earned carb-filled bagels.
"My only slight disappointment is we didn't really do enough when we had the ball, but that will come with time."
