Goldin played a blinder but Raiders romp home

Josh Green and David Rhodes scored twice with Matt Stock and Jonathan Peters also getting on the scoresheet.

Rhodes, Stock and Rob Blackman made way at half time, with manager Phil Peters releasing himself and former gaffer Rob Richman into the action as well as the returning Elliot Espinoza.

The changes made an immediate impact – albeit negatively – with Raiders looking much sloppier in possession although still looking more than comfortable.

Green completed his hat-trick with a great finish before Richman picked up a deserved goal.

Hendon got one back soon after, their persistence and unwillingness to lay down and die paying off with Jonathan Peters – who had scored a brilliant first-half header – connecting with a Hendon free kick to send the ball looping over Jake Doffman and into the back of the net, the Hendon boys delighted to have done what four Premiership teams have failed to do this season.

Raiders scored a tenth minutes before full time, Green scoring his fourth of the morning, before referee Martin Fox brought proceedings to a close.

The Raiders gaffer was pleased with his side’s performance: "It was a very disciplined and professional approach and I’m delighted with the attitude of the boys this morning.

"We didn’t panic in the first 20 minutes when we couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net and by half-time the job was done and I was able to take off some of our big hitters and wrap them up in cotton wool ahead of the bigger tests we’ll be facing in the coming weeks.

"Credit to Hendon – they really kept fighting in the second half and thoroughly deserved their goal. Adam said they were coming to play football and they were true to their word. Best of luck to them in their league season.

"We move on and have a week off now before big games at Oakwood and Hendon. I’ll enjoy watching the results come in from the Herzliya beach on Sunday, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be finishing the weekend on top of the table again."
