Avram Grant has signed a deal in excess of two years as Ghana manager.
The former Israel and Chelsea boss has less than two months to prepare the national team for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
Ghana president Kwesi Nyantakyi said: "Grant needs time to know the players very well so we can’t ask him to win the Nations Cup. That would be unrealistic.
"The objective we have set for him is for him to rebuild the team into one that can win the 2017 AFCON."
