Furman, 29, lifted the MTN8 Cup after helping SuperSport United beat Cape Town City on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last weekend.

The final finished 1-1 after normal time before United ran out 4-2 winners in the shoot-out, with Furman converting the second spot-kick for United.

Furman was first on the books of Chelsea before moving to Rangers. He had successful spells at Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers before moving to his native South Africa two years ago.

“I’m loving being back in South Africa,” said Furman, “but my current contract finishes at the end of the season. I’m planning to sign a extension for another year but am keen to return to the UK afterwards.”
