Dean Furman insists its business as usual after helping South Africa move a step closer to qualification for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Furman featured in the double-header success over nearest rivals Congo to ensure South Africa lead their group by a point with two games remaining. He helped set up one of the goals in a 3-0 success in the away leg which was followed by a goalless draw.
"Playing away from home anywhere in Africa is very difficult,” said Furman. “It was a very important win as we were on 3G in front of a very hostile crowd.
"Now we need one more win to seal qualification."
Furman, 26, also revealed that he was tested for the Ebola virus on arrival in Congo. “The players are protected as much as possible,” he said.
"I don't think any national team would send players anywhere where they would be at risk."
South Africa host Sudan in their penultimate match before finishing in Nigeria.
Furman returned to action for his club, Doncaster Rovers, in Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat against Leyton Orient, a result which saw them slip to 17th.
Rovers host MK Dons tomorrow before Furman makes an emotional return to Valley Parade to take on former club Bradford City on November 1.
