The old and the young combined to give South a much needed three points at home to old nemesis Miam Miam.
South came out of the blocks quickly, with Louis Rawlings almost netting in the opening few minutes.
But it was Ethan Krell who opened the scoring, who slotted home from a Toby Levy cross.
South continued to threaten and eventually doubled their league when veteran and Maccabiah legend Mark Stewart's free-kick was too hot for the Miam keeper to handle.
South reconvened at half-time, but came out second best. A quick free-kick pulled a goal back for the Celtics, causing South players to get angry with the referee's decision to allow the goal.
A nervy half hour was made worse by an equaliser with 10 minutes to go. However this time, South scored the winner after full back Jack Rowe beat his man and delivered, and David Flax finished superbly from 18 yards.
South now face former champions Mace next week, before their Morrison tie in London.
Neil Collins praised the spirit shown and thought South clearly deserved their winner. He said: "We were excellent in the first half today, but didn't turn up after half time.
"I must praise Stewy for his performance - a real general in the middle of the park. We know scouts will be down to watch him in London with the Maccabiah in mind, we just hope it doesn't affect his performance - he loves playing in the Morrison!
"All the boys worked hard and fought until the end - you can't ask for more than that. With players still to come back (my Marc), we are confident of putting together a good run in time for our London showdown."
