Maccabi Sunday League: Casual Nomads 322-6, Chigwell 140-9, Nomads won by 182 runs
A sensational 225-run second-wicket partnership between Jerome Roith and Mark Aziz secured a comfortable win for Casual Nomads in their first league game of the season.
After winning the toss, Nomads had no hesitation in making first use of a typically docile Shenley batting track under blazing sunshine.
After losing opener Richard Ferrer with the score at just 16, Roith and Aziz combined to record their club-record partnership for the second wicket in just 25 overs. Aziz's maiden century contained 17 fours and a six. Late hitting from Daniel Samson helped push the total well over 300. Chigwell’s Michael Myers claimed 4-32.
In reply Chigwell never looked like reaching their imposing target. But the visitors managed to survive a testing final spell from teenage off-spinner Peter Sulzbacher to reach the end of the 40th over with one wicket still in hand.
