Belmont & Edgware registered their third consecutive Middlesex Sunday League victory, winning a relatively low-scoring contest against Haryom at JFS.
The top-of-the-table clash was played on a sweltering hot day, and Warren Averbuch's men went into it knowing only a victory would see them close the gap at the top.
Haryom won the toss and elected to bat first. Averbuch and Gideon Restan opened the bowling restricting the early scoring opportunities for the hosts. They bowled well but for no reward and were replaced by Connick and Myeroff.
Both bowlers found their rhythm early on placing pressure upon the opening batsmen. At the drinks break Haryom were 45-0.
Connick continued to put pressure on the top order batsmen, while Myeroff picked up his first wicket thanks to a stumping by Kay.
The other opener was dismissed thanks to an excellent direct hit run out from Jonny Evans.
After the drinks break, the hosts started to accelerate the run rate. Richie Wienburg replaced Connick and was rewarded with the wicket of Haryom's key batsmen. Wienburg continued to pressure the opposition and was rewarded with his second wicket of the game.
Evans replaced Myeroff and soon picked up two quick wickets, one of which was an incredible caught and bowled effort displaying amazing agility. Evans pressed on and was rewarded with his third wicket of the game. BECC had dismissed Haryom for 150 in the final over of the allotted 40.
The BECC run chase did not start too well with Connick dismissed early on. This brought Jonathan Feigenbaum to the crease in his first game of the season and he set about repairing the early innings damage.
Nick McLeod soon followed Connick and was replaced by Evans and soon after the remaining middle order as the team struggled to find consistency in chasing the set target.
At 75-7, Wienburg came to the crease with a mammoth task at hand. By this point, Feigenbaum had settled and was building an expertly accumulated innings displaying some classy shot making.
Wienburg and Feigenbaum started to build a partnership to lead BECC to victory, even though the task looked far from a reality.
The pair took to the opposition bowlers with controlled aggression, dispatching the ball around the park. Wienburg eventually fell for an excellent 48, with BECC requiring four runs to win.
Feigenbaum and Wienburg put on 71 runs for their eighth wicket partnership. With BECC requiring four runs to win, Feigenbaum dispatched the ball to the boundary to bring up his 50 and a third consecutive league victory for the 1st XI.
